Less scrolling. More creating, connecting, and growing together.
Families Beyond the Screen started at a kitchen table, in the middle of the same nightly screen battle so many parents know.
For a long time, every evening ended the same way: “five more minutes,” a game that “can't be paused,” and a parent who felt like the bad guy. What finally changed things in our home wasn't a stricter rule. It was having something better ready: a song to learn on the keyboard, Saturday morning runs, dominoes after dinner.
So we turned what worked into simple, practical tools for families with kids ages 8–12. Real life, not perfect days. No guilt, no lectures, and no extreme bans.
What we believe
- Technology isn't the enemy. Kids can love games and still love the world beyond the screen.
- Plans beat battles. Rules kids help make are rules kids follow.
- Small steps count. Ten minutes a day is enough to start.
- Every family is different. Single parents, two homes, siblings, busy schedules: our tools bend to fit.
What we make
- Free articles for parents of kids 8–12
- A free family screen-time agreement
- The 30-Day Family Reset and Complete Family Toolkit
- A screen-free gift guide sorted by kid type
- Printables in our Etsy shop
How we keep the lights on
We sell our own printables, and some links on this site are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. It never changes your price, and we only recommend things we'd give our own kids.
Our promise
Everything we share is educational family support, not medical or psychological advice. If you're worried about your child's health, sleep, mood, or safety, please talk with your pediatrician.
